What kind of a day is it? Well a "Ray Day" of course. In 1978 I met my husband at the Cornwall/Massena border crossing where we both worked. I had just lost my mother to cancer and felt so alone. I found such a kind understanding listener in Ray. The road that lay ahead of us was for sure a most bumpy, curving one, almost roller coaster like. Most of you may not know that Ray lost 5 family members the first year we were together. His 2 oldest children in vehicle accidents, his oldest nephew to a drunk driver, his favourite uncle and his step-father both to heart failure. What a year. I do not nor will I ever understand how Ray survived all this. You will never see Ray depressed about anything. He has such a positive attitude toward everything. He fully believes that everything happens for a reason and when the creator chooses it to be. You may have guessed by now that Ray is a North American Native. Yes, one more hurdle for us to overcome in our "society". Well, that was 31 years ago and overcome the hurdles we did. I say "we" for I could not have done this alone. My survival would be very different without my "Totem Pole" to lean on.
In November 2008 we celebrated 30 years of friendship and 25 years of marriage. If I could only keep one perfect moment in our life tucked away, which moment would it be? I can't help thinking that maybe, just maybe the most perfect moment of all is yet to come. To my wondeful, supportive husband.
Lovingly
Sandra
