After many years, finally true friends...

Most of my best friends are already on this site. And most of them already have a leaner page created,I am proud to be able to create a page for Candy. I want this page to be a place for her to continuously draw strength from. Candy and I have had a hard 10 years together. From day one, it was kind of an unwritten rule that we just would not get along. For reasons really beyond what we would ever know. There was a lot of miscommunication, dirty looks, and gossip to go along with it all. Only true friends can make it through what we have gotten past. About a year ago, I felt enough was enough, and luckily at the same time she felt the same way. We had a very long conversation with each other, and then included our spouses. We got together one night had some pizza and talked for hours the 4 of us. what a night that was. We cleared up all of the bad history between all of us, and realized it was time to move forward. Since that night, I have gained a friend who would stand by my side, listen to anything i needed to talk about, and help me in any way she can. Our friendship only gets stronger by the day, and I am thankful for that. we have had many leaning moments together, and usually our days start VERY early in the morning by a phone call from one of us to each other to say "Holy, are you on the network?!!?" meaning this site..We make it a daily routine to wake up and first thing we do is check the leaner network just to see who has written what to whom..It lifts our spirits for the day and we just giggle in amazement of how it is changing our family....But without either of us realizing, by doing that each day, brings us closer too...Thank you Candy for becoming one of my realy true best friends!

I am just getting to know Candy, as we have Missy and our little boys in common! Candy's son Kaleb and my boy James are 2 days apart in late April, and they just love each other!
When I first got to spend some time with Candy, it was at Missy's house for a playdate for our kids. The boys certainly had fun, but we had a BALL laughing uproariously! It just makes me feel so great to hang out with fun, sweet, smart and cool sisters like those ladies are!
Recently, I drove over to Candy's house to hang out and have a playdate for our boys ... it was such a blast. To watch Jamey and Kaleb climb in a box and just sit smiling at each other, then climb into an easy chair together and sit side-by-side ... it was a beautiful sight and a bonding experience for us as mothers and friends.
By the way, as an artist, Candy is a fine singer that my husband Pete (who plays steel with Corey) reports sounded great the other night! I only wish I could have seen her and been there! But the day shall come. I have a feeling that there will be a nice, deep friendship with long roots growing over the years! Love ya, Candy :-)

Candy, although we don't get to spend that much time together, I really enjoy being around you. You have an infectious smile and personality. Everytime I am around you, you are happy and so warm and welcoming. I am looking forward to the years ahead and a great friendship with you. I hope that this summer we will be able to spend some time together at the festivals!! Love ya, Amy

My fondest memories of Candy , although she does not remember because she was only 2 yrs old was when I spent a summer school vacation babysitting her. I was 12 yrs old and I stayed the summer with her and my aunt Gloria , uncle Tom and my cousin Randy so I could babysit Candy the nights that Gloria and Tom played in the band. I made out pretty good too because aunt Gloria paid me on these nights and I saved the money to buy new school clothes . I had alot of fun with the family and really enjoyed being with Candy . I thought she was the cutest little girl except for the time we were driving home one night from watching Gloria and Tom play and Candy was sitting on my lap and she farted on me. Being 12 I thought it was sooo gross but she was only 2 so I couldn't make a big deal out of it , I just made sure she didn't sit on MY lap for a long time......LOL !! We're all grown up now and have our own kids but I will always remember this time I spent with her.

I'll share one of my favorite Candy stories when she was "sweet sixteen"...
She was helping me build a deck on the house and I asked her to remove some 2x6's from the deck because they were in the way. She picked up one and threw it and it landed on my 3 foot level and bent it which made it unserviceable from that point forward. Of course, I wasn't very happy that she had chose to throw it instead of setting it off the deck. I had a few choice comments which we will not go into.
A few hours later she said she had to go into town and would be back later. I'll never forget, later that day I had finished my projects for the day and was sitting in my easy chair when the door opened. In walked Candy and handed me a new level she apparently had gone into town especially to buy as a replacement. "Here Dad, I'm sorry I broke your level."
Let me tell you, at that moment I wanted to go out and grab that same 2x6 and hit myself in the head. I realized with that gesture Candy had taught and/or reminded me of several great lessons. 1) only open my mouth to insert foot, 2) material things aren't nearly as important as your friends and loved ones, 3) never think you'll get the upper hand on a woman!!
Candy, you are the rock I lean on...thank you for being such a great and wonderful daughter!!.....Dad

I think one of my fondest memories of you is not so much back when you were little sleeping in my arms while the band played all night and my arms and back would go numb just so you could sleep. I think my fondest memory is that New Years Eve when I sat at my table looking up at you standing on the stage singing Daughter of The Coal Miners Daughter. I know that it was one of your mothers proudest moments. To see that sleeping little girl all grown up standing up there just like her mother still brings a lump to my throat. I then would say that your next biggest thing would be the day that you married. I may not have been there in person (and for that I am truely sorry) but I can tell you now you were never more in my thoughts and heart as you were that day. The last thing so far that has made me proud of you and this one I didn't miss is the night you became a mom. I wasn't in the room during the exact time of birth but wild horses wouldn't have kept me out once your mom came out and told me little Kalab was finally here. You and Kevin have become the perfect parents and have given me one of the most sweetest and lovable Grand Nephews I could ever ask for. Now all I need is a Grand Neice and everything will be great. (If that day ever comes watch out. You think I spoil Kalab wait until you give me his sister to spoil). Well with that in mind I just want to tell you how proud I am to be your Aunt and Kalab's Grand Aunt. You have turned from a cute little girl into an amazing wife and mother and no Aunt could be more proud of you then I am.

You know I had a friend that I was very close to and another friend said something to her about me and my very close friend called me up and asked me never to be in touch with her again. You know that has totally hurt me and I wished that I had the courage to call her, if I could find out where she is and make amends. People in this life at times can be so cruel. Any suggestions

I just don't know how much more of this I can take!!!! I read the network every morning as well and the first thing I'm doing is crying over what someone has said and thanking Corey and James for what they are doing to this family. I sort of did a page of Candy only not knowing where I was going around this site, I put it in her member page. Dumb me. There is so much more that I want to tell Candy and thank her for so I'm sure I'll be including another saga here honoring Candy as her mom. I love you more than you'll ever know; I love your choice of whom you've decided to spend the rest of your life with, and I love so much the little one you've created together, my little Kaleb. Thank you , thank you, thank you. I love all so much and dad says yes, we're coming home for Kaleb's birthday. Hurray, hurray. (LIke there was any doubt).
