Throughout my life my mother has been in and out due to drug abuse. Same as my father. I lived with my grandmother for the first seven years of my life. Then my mother sobered up and I lived with her and chris (whom she married after getting sober) for another seven years. Everything was ok until one day three years ago my mother broke. She took a drink and it went down hill from there. She became a very belligerent person and when Chris cut off her alcohol she found a way to sneak it. Eventually things got to the point where she left with my sister to my sisters fathers house. Chris just picked me up from school and said "Your mom is gone". I don't really remeber what that felt like but it wasn't good. My mother left and took my sister with her without saying a word to me...It was the day after my birthday. From that point my mother tried to win custody of me but gave up because I told her I wanted to be with Chris. Then my grandmother stepped in. She had always felt that I was hers because of the years she raised me. She fought hard despite what I told her and because of the debt ran up from the court we lost our house. Chris won the custody case. For three years now he's been a great role model for me and has been keeping me on the right track. I thank God for him everyday. In those three years I've been through a lot and so has he but we keep supporting eachother.
