Jim, just noticed your "page" here. Thanks for the inspiration on the 'bro' I agree with Smokey, that you may be the best Dobro player in the NE. Also thanks for the pointers when I was first getting started. Had hopes of a few more sessions with you but my work schedule has sent me in the opposite direction. My hat is off to you, master of the old time sound. Thanks for keeping tradition alive. Bob
Hi, I wanted to tell you that a few months back I found one of Dad's tee shirts........... There was a picture of you on it ('nuf said) and it said "The real Jim Warren" or something to that fact. What fun times you all had with Dad!
Hi Jim, I wanted to tell you how much it means to me that you come to our shows. There are so many musicians that I've looked up to and respected for their talents over the years, and you are certainly one of them. When I see you out in the audience I feel honored. I remember at Brandon last year, after our Saturday night show, I think, we went back to the campers and you came over and told us how well we did. Man that REALLY made me feel good. For someone of your caliber to go out of your way to pay me a compliment just is a wonderful feeling. I greatly appreciate all the kind things you've said about me and am glad to have you as a friend. Thank you.
Hi Jim: Hope everything is going great for the best darn dobro player this side of East Sadalia. Just the other day a friend of mine here in Florida (who is a dobro player) mentioned Roy Acuff's Wabash Cannonball and I told him that there's a guy I know in Vermont who can play that song as well as the original recording. He's from Michigan and I think he really intends to drive all the way to Brandon just to hear you play the dobro. Really enjoy playing music with you at festivals and look forward to this coming season in Vermont. I like the picture of you, didn't realize you had aged that much since I last saw you. I've been trying to practice the banjo more this season in Florida but it's hard to believe I'm retired because it's hard to find the time. Just played backup banjo at a community gathering in Oxford, Florida and it got my juices flowing again. It started out that I was one of the backups and it turned out that I was the only backup. I'm sure you have some great war stories also. I'm sure you're a major leaner for any musician who has the pleasure of crossing trails with you. Have a happy, healthy and prosperous new year....
Thanks for the very nice comment, that mean a lot coming from you. I also appreciate your comments to my Dad i am so proud to be his son. as a little boy i remember watching you play and think there is no way that guy will even talk to me. I like to think that all of the great musicians that i have been around growing up have helped me learn and love to do what i do. Thank you so much for always making me feel welcome around you and for showing your support to my efforts. It is truely rewarding to hear you compliment AB and my abilities. I know you are genuine and that makes a big difference. I want you to know how great i really do think you are. I have always loved your playing- you play "My style". I also consider you and many of the great musicians of the North East to be what we are at the institute call Leaners. You have made such a difference in the lives of so many aspiring musicians. It is my mission to honor all of the people like you, right here on Leaner Network and get it out to the world. People like you do not get enough recognition and i think it is time.
We should have Leaner pages for all the wonderful people we know and invite as many people as we can to share their stories about them. These people deserve to know they are appreciated. Even the Leaners who are already gone need to be recognized.
I also want to mention how much fun i had pickin' with you intil early morning at Jennybrook what a great time.
Thanks again for being a part of this and supporting just one more thing that i do. I look forward to many more great times, "Leaning moments"
